Photo Editing

To edit my photos I use Adobe Lightroom.

I start off by using the crop panel to ensure the photo is aligned using the grid.

I will also crop the photo if there is too much noise or I want to have the focal point more central in the frame.

I then begin changing the light sliders on the right. I like to keep a darker tone to the photos but highlight the focus areas of the photo to really focus the viewer’s eye on the story of the photo.

I usually lower the “blacks” on the photo as it makes the photo look cleaner and makes the brighter areas pop more.

I will then go onto the “colour” panel and adjust the sliders here. Usually, I only increase the vibrance and saturation slightly to make the colours in the photo stand out more.

This also makes shots of a sunset or other scenes with red/yellow/orange have a warmer feel to them.

I will then go to the Effects tab, I only use these settings if a photo is blurry or needs some extra adjustment.

Adding grain can also be a great way to make a photo feel more vintage or look like it has been taken on a film camera.

Equipment – I use a mixture of point and shoot cameras like an iPhone or small digital cameras and DLSRS. I also have experience using film cameras.
